RITUAL: Handfasting at Two Harbors on Catalina Island

Did you know handfasting was the origin of the term 'tie the knot'?

This private ceremony, sometimes referred to as an elopement, involved just the couple, and took place on a weekday. They graciously brought me to Two Harbors with them (and their kitten!?!), where we had a beautiful wedding on the rocky coast of the beach.  It was SO lovely to see the happy couple congratulated by the locals and the tourists, as they strolled through town....

Thank you so much, Venus, for helping to make our ceremony so personal and special. We were lucky to find someone like you who understood what we wanted and was willing to take a ferry with us to our secret island location! ; ) We especially loved the Buddhist blessing which was the sort of thing I'd searched and searched for myself without success. Your understanding and flexibility are warmly appreciated! (Thanks again to our unofficial photographer, too!) It was a perfect moment we will always remember !

Sounds like a beautiful wedding! I especially love the heavy ribbon that the couple used for their handfasting. I was the officiant at my first beach wedding, in Malibu, last weekend. So much fun!
